What Cancer Taught Us

Glenn and Jodie celebrating being cancer free

We’ve been fighting Jodie’s battle with cancer for over two decades.

As time’s gone by, there are some lessons our journey has taught us.

Back in 2003, we learned of Jodie's diagnosis of stage two breast cancer; it turned into stage four in 2009. She’s been clear of recurrence since 2016—a tribute to our team of physicians who’ve kept us current on check ups and medicines.

One of the lessons cancer has taught us is to be present in the moment. After you’ve done all you can, it’s time to recuperate. And just be.

Another is that if you know someone who’s fighting cancer, look for ways to help without asking if there’s anything you can do. There is always something you can do. If nothing else, just listening makes a big difference. (And hold the “my uncle died from cancer” remarks, please.)

We also know that our relationship is much stronger since we started this journey, as individuals and as a couple. It’s funny how adversity can do that for people.

We’ve got lots more insight about all kinds of couplepreneur stuff on our blog, so check it out!
