Let’s Talk About Setting Big Goals
This episode wasn’t about HOW to set big goals; it’s a conversation about goal setting in a theoretical sense. For information on ways you can work together to set the right goals, check out this episode.
Whether a goal is BIG or not is somewhat relative.
If you own 10 restaurant locations and hope to open another one in the next year, that might not seem that big to you. It feels like standard growth.
But if you own one small hardware store and want to open a second location across town, that could be HUGE for you.
So, when we say BIG, we’re not really talking about physical or financial size or the number of additional resources or people you will need.
Big goals in this context relate to the BIG feelings that come with them.
Will the goal:
Feel both exciting and scary
Take you out of your comfort zone
Need significant time to achieve
Have a tremendous impact on you, your business or both
Why is it important to set BIG goals?
Jodie loves setting goals, making plans and thinking those big thoughts about the future.
It gives something to strive for and makes sure we are both on the same page regarding our future.
Sometimes the issue isn’t in coming up with BIG GOALS, it’s in achieving them.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed. But we’ve learned over the years that the best thing to do is develop that BIG GOAL and then break it down into achievable tasks.
And as we said, these goals don’t have to involve a lot of money or infrastructure investments. They’re something that pushes you.

BIG GOALS can evolve.
It’s often said that your reach should exceed your grasp.
So setting BIG goals can sometimes be a way to stretch yourself whether the exact result happens or not.
